Stamp Time Somewhere

Sorry no updates

lately....just getting back in the swing of things. First off, for all of you who were praying for my G'pa, THANK YOU! My Mom called me today and said he beat his infection, which was the worst part of what they were dealing with. He's by no means out of the woods yet, but this is major progress. I guess the hospital chaplain made a visit yesterday, my cousins sent two Mormon missionaries (he's not LDS), and I know there were so many prayers sent.

My little dude is feeling better, on again off again fever until pretty much yesterday. No other symptoms really...odd. I'm glad that I just didn't feel right when the urgent care doc quickly diagnosed the flu and prescribed an antibiotic and some cough/congestion meds. He had no cough or congestion. So, needless to say, I held off on giving them to him and just kept up with the Motrin/Tylenol regimen and lots of baths and rest.

Ok, so now for some stamping stuff!!!!

So I am realizing I never showed y'all my two other swaps from Leadership! So I can drag this out and torture y'all with anticipation (BwaHaa Haa) Here's ONE of them.

  This is basically an almost complete CASE from the F/W07 Collection. ALL suplies are SU. I used the Cutie Pie color scheme as my inspiration, and the "sketch" the same. It's all colored in with either blender pens and ink I scribled on a stamp case or in the case of the heart, watercolor crayon and blender pen. I'm not sure what I was thinking when I decided to do this as a swap like a day before Leadership. It was more detailed than it looked (aren't they always?) I ended up juggling my swaps around so I had some for "general" swapping.

Sorry - but in truth I have my Valentines for the Year. My Hubby (of course), My oldest son who now tells people I'm his girlfriend (LUV it!) and of course my true Valentine - my V-Day baby (I can't believe he''s almost 2!)

But....I am holding an all day Stamp your heart out - Won't you be my Valentine? event!

Happy Birthday to meeeeee......

Today is my birthday so I am going to exercise my right to be a brat and not post anything. Well - anything of any stamping importance anyhow.......

G'pa is still in the hospital. My 3 yo woke up with a 102.4 fever....there went my grand plans of a fancy IHOP breakfast. Waiting to see if he starts feeling a little better before I continue to plan on and crave Cheesecake Factory for dinner - and a movie afterward. A real movie - in the theater - not on EOD...wow. SO far I have received some lovely cards, some perfume, a great new snoopy shirt, a gorgeous necklace charm (it's a two part charm and my mom has the other half- how COOL!) SOCKS - (Mom - I'm sorry for making fun of you for not buying yourself new socks, hosiery and undergarments all the time when I was growing up - now I understand) and $$$ FOR STAMPS!!!!!!!

Tomorrow is my first ever guys class. I'll have 6 or 7 guys here to stamp six cards for their wives - Valentines, Mothers Day, Birthday, Anniversary, Just because, and I'm sorry! I'm really excited but sooooo nervous!!! My DAD is even coming. Coolest thing is that at first I was a little worried that the other guys might give mine a hard time - but not one did!

Oh yeah, and for those of you that know that I live in Vegas (and you all do now I guess) here'a answers to any FAQs that y'all might care to know (or not) about our "experience" with the Monte Carlo fire. My Hubby was not at work - he was out buying me socks. My FIL called me to tell me - he is in charge of security at MGM right across the street from the Monte Carlo. He was in the very bad Hilton fire here years ago....My bro (who also works MGM security) wouldn't answer the phone - hmmmm wonder why? hee hee . My neighbor is out of work for 3 weeks while the casino is closed. I could easily see the large plumes of smoke from my bedroom window. Yahoo maps says I am 7.12 miles from the Monte Carlo or 11 minutes drive time.( HA! They obviously don't take into account our stinky traffic in this town. Maybe at like 2 am on a Tuesday night.....) And my hubby may have the opportunity to pick up some overtime due to all of this. THat would be cool. Oh yeah - I have never been inside the Monte Carlo - I've heard it's beautiful - My Mom and step dad stayed there about 3 years ago - if that counts for anything.

a little Irish? hee hee. Having Irish ancestry myself, and being married to a man that is almost full blood Irish I was so excited to see this set when it came out in the new Spring Summer Collection! These were just a few of the great samples with this set from the Leadership boards.

 

Another break in scheduled programming....

Here is another card that we made Monday night. It was inspired from another card with the same set that I saw "somewhere" online. Anyhow, it's a 4 1/4" square card, really easy and I think cute....even though these colors are WAY outside of my comfort zone!

This card uses SU's level 1 hostess set - For A Friend. I love the simple sayings and images in this set. Very versatile! The flower and "leaf" are from our new felt flowers - Flower Fusion elements. The leaf is a pointy little flower shape that we cut "petals" off to make them into the leaf shape. The colors used on this are: Old Olive, PInk Passion, Pumpkin Pie and Taken with Teal! Inspiration for the colors is directly from the Bali Breeze designer paper.

Oh yeah, you like my new watermark? It's the new one I made for 2008!

If you pray, please pray for peace and comfort in my family right now. I don't know if prayers for recovery are too late. This is for my Grandpa Ted - his wife Jean, my Mom Pam and her brothers Ted, Jon and Charles. The many grandchildren and great grandchildren....Thank You.

We interupt this long run of Leadership photos with a few projects that Jeanna actually stamped! (there's more for tomorrow)This was for my Monday night class this week. Only two in attendance, but I think we had fun.

This is a pretty simple card using River Rock as the base. I stamped the large image from Sweet Celebrations in River Rock directly on the card. Then stamped again in Soft Sky ink on Whisper White and punched out with the 1 3/8" circle punch, layered on with a dimensional. A 1" punched circle of Soft Sky is layered on top of that with the little heart embossed with white EP. A quick little tie of Soft Sky double stitched ribbon and we were done!

OK>>>DISCLAIMER>>>>PERSONAL STUFF AHEAD........

I apologize for the "easy" posts of samples and suck from Leadership, but so far 2008 is starting off pretty crummy for me. This past weekend kept me by the phone as both my Granny from my Dad's side, and my Grandpa on my Mom's were both admitted to ICU for differing reasons, but very touch and go. My G'pa is still not doing well. He is currently on life support after suffering multiple complications and ailments. He had just came back to his home after spending 9 mos. recovering from a severe infection and stroke. Needless to say, it's been a rough week. Granny seems to be doing better and will hopefully be going home soon, but will have to make arangements as she is under doc's orders that she is unable to live alone at this point.

I do have to say that even though I learned so much at Leadership, my true lesson learned that weekend came from elsewhere. See, I decided to stay with my G'pa and G'ma just 45 minutes from Palm Springs. I normally choose to stay in hotels in conjunction with events and totally dislike driving, so this was different for me. I have to say that I honestly had never seen a love as strong and true as my grandparent's. After 55 years of marriage, my G'ma still calls my G'pa "Baby" and tended to him, not out of obligation but from what no one could deny as pure love. Several times I was able to watch them unobserved and was brought to tears. It was so beautiful. I am so grateful for my stay there - seems like Heavenly Father knew that I needed to be there - for multiple reasons.

So, I will probably cotinue to space out my posts and rely on some great samples photos until things get a little easier and I know whats going on a little more. My 32nd birthday is coming up on Saturday, and I have refused to plan anything for now. I think I am just going to celebrate the fact that I am healthy and loved. I don't need much else anyhow.

Tune in tomorrow for another "interruption" (aka a Jeanna project), then probably back to regularly scheduled programming :P

And after seeing these samples from the display boards, I am soooo glad I went ahead and ordered it now! (Again, please note these are not my samples, but works of art created by other SU demos for display at our Leadership event)

  I think that this is going to be a really fun set to do paper piecing with. I love the card with the circles. I have issues with circles(in life in general, not just in papercrafting), I don't know if I am talented enough to make this work.
