I read this on one of my blogs I visit daily : Low Impact Living and thought I'd pass ito n. Pretty good eye opener.
Ever wonder how recycling helps save energy? Our friends at Earth911.com have done a great job of laying out the energy savings of recycling everything from aluminum to plastic wrap. When you toss items in your recycling bin, you’re saving more than landfill space.
Here is just a sampling of the compelling statistics:
+ Recycled aluminum saves 95 percent energy vs. virgin aluminum; recycling of one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a TV for three hours (Reynolds Metal Company)
+ Enough aluminum is thrown away every year to rebuild our commercial air fleet four times.
+ Recycled glass saves 50 percent energy vs. virgin glass (Center for Ecological Technology)
+ Recycling of one glass container saves enough energy to light a 100-watt bulb for four hours (EPA)
+ Recycled paper saves 60 percent energy vs. virgin paper (Center for Ecological Technology)
+ Production of recycled paper uses 80 percent less water, 65 percent less energy and produces 95 percent less air pollution than virgin paper production.
For more information on this topic, click here. And we highly recommend Earth911 for all of your recycling questions/needs. It is a wonderful resource!

Hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend. The usual "SPF 30 drill sgt." forgot to apply any to herself (me) and I now look like a lobster and feel horrible! Anyhow - spent the weekend with family time so no stamping. Now I'm getting ready to take the boys to Mt. Charleston for a little camping - so I don't think I'll get anything posted for a few days. When I get back I need to finish up a swap, then start prepping for my first class in two months!!!! June 9th I will be back in the swing of things! Hopefully I will be back soon to wow you with my amazing stamping talents (ha ha ha)

Here is the other Fresh Cuts card I mentioned this last weekend. It's much prettier in real life as it was a little difficult to photograph. I used the Poppin'Pastels technique on vellum! There was a lot of detail in the stamp, so it took a while. I used a soft paintbrush so as to minimize the smudging. That piece is mounted onto Old Olive and the card base is just Kraft. It's a fairly simple card in design as i was hoping to maximize the impact of the image. It's very soft looking.....

I was lucky enough to be able to enjoy the company of my Aunt Cindy last weekend, and while she was here, not only did she help me out with my boys as I was still recovering - we were able to sneak in a little fun time as well. She has been making these adorable candy vases after finding the inspiration in the Stampin'Up! catalog. We escaped to Minhael's where she picked up 2 packs of these adorable felt stickers (sorry - I didn't write down the mnfr.) After placing them back to back on the ends of some floral wire, she aranged them in this cute little glass vase filled with chocolate skittles. She has done several other themes and I saw some of the goodies she got for future ones. Wouldn't you just love to be the recipient of one of these? I think she has some lucky friends. I know I am a lucky niece. Tomorrow I will post another card I made with my new Stampin'Up! Fresh Cuts stamp set. Please leave a comment on this project so that the talented lady behind this knows what others think!

Here is a sneak peek at a Fresh New product from the Summer/Fall '08 Idea Book that Stampin'Up! will be making available EARLY!!!!! That's right - early and there's a special attached!!! During the month of June, customers can buy the set and get the cards FREE and Hostesses with a $400 party can get both the stamp set and cards FREE! I think I am going to be holding a class the first week of June showcasing all the fun ideas with the set!!!! Anyhow, enough blabbering - here's my first card using the FRESH CUTS stamp set and Notecards!
The notecards come laser cut with this great five petal cutout which coordinates so wonderfully with our five petal punch! Cool! This came together quickly as all of the stamping is in Basic Black, and all I added was the punched out Basic Black flower and the Silver Hodgepodge Hardware from the spring Occassions mini catalog - a quick wrap of the retired :( silver cord and I was done!
I'll post more details about the products and promotion as well as my class as we get closer to June!
***Personal update - feeling a lot better - still at risk for bleeding I guess though, so I still have to take it easy. My Aunt is coming up this weekend to help out while DH is out of town - sounds like my Uncle and cousin too - should be really nice - just wish it wasn't going to be 103 degrees!

Ok, so I am proud of my little guy! He was at it again with a card for his Uncle that just turned 18. The dinosaur is supposed to be eating the cupcake. once again, he did all the stamping and chose the colors - all I did was help him open the ink pads and glue the fron on! I think for 3 he's quite good.

Ok, so it's a little silly I guess. But RoseAnn is a very well known and talented stamper - she's on several design teams, including SCS Dirty Dozen and so that makes her famous - to me she is a friend.
This is the photo from her blog (see her original post here) of a card I was lucky enough to receive. She sent it to me as a "Get Well Soon - glad to hear everythings OK" card. It's hard to believe but it is even more stunning in person.
Things are starting to get a little better, although today's been a little roungh in a different way - I sneezed this morning and that set off a chain reaction in my throat and now I think the scabs are starting to come loose. Not pleasant, but hopefuly it means the end is near! I will be happy to return to normal!!!
