Gorgeous Grunge Series - Day 4

Hi! Welcome Back!

 It's Wednesday!!! Want to hear something kind of funny? My husband has worked a 4 day work week FOREVER.... and his days off aren't normal either.  A few weeks ago a guy friend posted "Happy Hump Day" on my FB wall and my Hubby was a little concerned! He said, "What is that all about?" He's never used the expression!

  I think this was my favoraite card I created with Gorgeous Grunge... I love the colors!

This is a 3x6 card and I really tried to add some fun elements, like the double color embossed mat, the popped up main panel with the hexagon punched out.

TIP Worry about lining up your alphabet stamps? Just stamp them a little wonky and make it look like you intended them to be fun and whimsical!

MDS Blog Hop - What I'm working on - August

Hi there! Welcome back.

I am so excited for some new changes to our MDS Blog Hop - Being as it's only our second hop with the new changes, I thought I'd remind you of what's new around here. One thing you probably noticed is that today isn't Wednesday - it's Thursday obviously and from now on we will be hopping on Thursdays! The other thing is that we now officially have 2 new full time designers on our hop. Julie Davidse and Cori Kozak!!!! Both of these women are crazy talented!

Today is our "What we're working on" week.I wanted to make a few Thank You cards for the season - so I used the new downloads - Sweater Weather and Truly Grateful

Color Combo: Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, Whisper White, Crushed Curry, Pool Party, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler

Tips: Both of these cards would be great hybrid. On the top card, the main panel with the wheat could be printed and popped up on dimensionals. On the second card, real Glimmer Paper would look awesome!

2013 Artisan Design Team - Artisan Wednesday Wow - Celebrate 18

Hi! Welcome Back!

So, what did you think of last week? AMAZING, right? I LOVE this Design Team!

Every Wednesday for the next year, the 2013 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team will be bringing you FUN, new, exclusive projects - shared here on our blogs. Are you looking forward to it as much as we are???? I know we sure hope so! Maybe you just came from Jane's blog - that girl ROCKS! If not, make sure you follow the hop all the way around to check out all 10 projects!

Ok, so out of all of the cards I created this month, I think this one might be my favorite. It always means more when you create a card for someone special!

EEEK! I LOVE how this turned out.  I knew I wanted to incorporate some fun trends on this card, like our new Gold Foil paper and Chevrons from our Chevron Border punch. I also wanted to add a fun touch of Polka Dots with the Modern Medley Designer Paper. The special girl that got this card LOVES green, So adding all these things together was quite the challenge! How did I do?

I used some Crystal Effects to glue the new Candy Dots to the tops of my wood skewers for the flags to give them that little extra finishing touch.

OH! If you are looking for a good way to line up the little punched out chevrons - try this trick - use the piece that you punched FROM as a template

COLOR COMBO Basic Gray, Basic Black, Gold, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla

TIP To give my embossed background piece even more dimension, I smooshed my ink pad on it, highlighting the raised parts. I also stamped a splatter from Gorgeous Grunge (my MUST HAVE stamp set) in Gold ink!

Gorgeous Grunge Series - Day 3

Still playing with Gorgeous Grunge - definitely one of my fave all-time stamps!!! For this card, I kind of wanted to think outside of the box and see if I could use it in an unepected way. What do you think?

I used all the different stamps in the set for various components of the card and cupcake. I know it's a REALLY simple, basic card, but it is definitely one you could make a lot of to have on hand

COLOR COMBO Gumball Green, Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Smmer Starfruit and Whisper White

TIP Think outside of the box with your stamps. Lots of our stamps can add extra texture to smaller pieces!

Gorgeous Grunge Series - Day 2

Hi! Welcome Back!

 How is your day going? Happy Monday! Yes, I really did just say that. Well, today my two older boys start their school year. Of course, it's bittersweet... I love having them around, and I love the lazy days of summer, but oh my gosh - those boys need to be back in school!

Here is another card featuring the SUPER AWESOME set, Gorgeous Grunge. I am telling you - I LOVE this set!

SUPER FAST, SUPER EASY card! I just used a piece of the Et Cetera Designer Series Paper, stamped with those Gorgeous Grunge splatters in Baked Brown Sugar, add the sentiment in Night of Navy, and there is another piece of that awesome Natural Trim... DONE! 5 minute card... seriously!

This was a pretty simple card, I love how just a few stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge set can make such a trendy background! The two Strawberry Slush scallop flowers were made by peeling one piece of cardstock apart in to two layers, and their centers were made by punching out a piece of Whisper White cardstock that had a piece of Washi Tape on it!

COLOR COMBO Very Vanilla, Night of Navy, Baked Brown Sugar, Pool Party

TIP don't be afraid to use the patterns in your Designer Series Papers as your main inspiration! The graphic design of this one, lent itself to a quick masculine card.

Gorgeous Grunge Series - Day 1

 

Hi! Welcome Back!

 How is your day going? I hope you are enjoying your Saturday!

Today starts my series focusing on Gorgeous Grunge. If there is one MUST have stamp set from this current catalog - THIS IS IT! I keep all my stamp sets on a bookshelf behind where I sit - except for this one. It STAYS right on my desktop!!!

This was a pretty simple card, I love how just a few stamps from the Gorgeous Grunge set can make such a trendy background! The two Strawberry Slush scallop flowers were made by peeling one piece of cardstock apart in to two layers, and their centers were made by punching out a piece of Whisper White cardstock that had a piece of Washi Tape on it!

COLOR COMBO Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Strawberry Sluch, Whisper White

TIP The "hi" embellishment was made with the Simply Pressed Clay. I rolled out a small piece, stamped it with the "hi" and then cut it out using a cap to my Crystal Effects!

Notable Notions Series, Day 6

Hi! Welcome Back!

   I really hope that you are enjoying seeing these suites as much as I am enjoying sharing them with you! Today will be the last day of the Notable Notions / Et Cetera series. I still have a few more suites to share with you over the next little while.

  Today's project is the other 3D project I created for the Convention Display Boards. I LOVE finding ways to create "mini banners" out of stamp sets, and I knew that this little tag shape in this set would make for a super cute little banner! What do you think?

  

The Morning Post Alphabet fit perfectly in the tag! I love when that happens!

Notable Notions Series, Day 5

Hi! Welcome Back!

Did you enjoy the Artisan Design Team Blog Hop yesterday? Seriously talented team this year - AGAIN!

Today's project is one of the "other" or 3D projects I created for the Convention Display Boards. After seeing so many cure covered clothespins on the web lately, I HAD to create some for myself and the Et Cetera Designer Papers seemed like the PERFECT choice!

 

I made the fun little holder with a piece of chipboard that came with some Specialty Designer Series Paper and then covered it with this sweet little banner piece from the Et Cetera Designer Papers.

The pattern in this Etcetera Designer Paper is so fun, that I wanted it to be the highlight of the card. I borrowed a layout from the Catalog, and then this card was a piece of cake

COLOR COMBO Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Calypso Coral, Baked Brown Sugar, Pool Party and Very Vanilla

TIP After adhering the Designer Paper to the clothespins, I lightly sanded the edges to give them a softer, more weathered feel.
