I don't know about you, but sometimes I just really love a fresh, new start! This year is definitely going to be one of them. Last year was a DOOZY.... I am ready for a FUN, FRESH and FABULOUS 'FOURTEEN!!!! Wishing you the same!

MDS Blog Hop - What I'm working on - December - Custom Facebook Cover Photos

Hi - Welcome back!

Are you enjoying the blog hop so far? I hope that you are finding lots of inspiration, I know I have! I just can't believe that this is our last post for 2013??? I will say that 2013 has been a VERY hard year for me, I am looking forward to the new start!

I am so lucky to be following my fabulous friend - with the most amazing smile - the talented, Holly Van Dyne. If you haven't seen her project yet, go check it out or make sure you hop all the way around.

So, are we the only family that has a hard time with family photos? I don't mean scheduling, outfits, or anything like that - I mean getting KIDS to look like little hum beings for them? With 3 boys, it's a CHALLENGE. I was just so grateful that my photographer is my Sis in Law and that we were at our home instead of somewhere in *public* where there could be witnesses!

 We did finally get a nice photo after lots of bribing and Mom giving in and let the 3 year old's non-coordinating blankie be in the picture, but there were definitely more CrAzY photos than nice ones..... I decided to have some fun with it though - they are boys, fun, loud, silly BOYS. Work with it - right, Mom???

 

So this week I decided to create a fun new Facebook Cover Photo using our ver US photo from that night.... I love it, it makes me so happy

Well, as if I wasn't lucky enough to follow one great friend, I get to go before one of the best-bestest-bestiest BFFs EVER - my outrageously talented and sweet friend Julie Davidse!!! Go check her out and tell her I said "Hi!" :)

Artisan Wednesday Wow - December His and Hers Wreath

Hi! Welcome Back!

It's a brand new month, and time for our Artisan Weekly Wednesday Wow Blog Hop!  Maybe you just came from Jane's blog - I just love that girl! If not, make sure you follow the hop all the way around to check out all 10 projects!

 

So you might have seen part of this project on the Stampin' Up! Artisan Facebook Page last week, but you didn't see the whole thing....

 

This box was actually inspired by my husband! We like to do a “his and hers” project every month, he stamps something, and I am supposed to use it as my inspiration. Well, this month he made me work, his project was AWESOME! (I’ll be sharing his project during our blog hop, so please make sure to check it out!!!!) It took me a while to figure out how I could “step it up” but in the end…. I LOVE what he inspired me to create!

Here is what HE created - I LOVE IT! I was so proud of what he came up with, I knew it would be HARD to top it! Can you believe he came up with this idea all on his own?!?!?

 

 

It took me a while before I could figure out what I could do to "Artisan it up" as we say... Here is what I did....

 

 

 

 I will admit that this did take a WHILE. He set the bar HIGH though! I really wanted to give this wreath the dimension it deserved. After I stamped it in Pear Pizzazz, I went in and shaded the leaves with other green markers to give it the detail, then I highlighted the branches and berries with markers as well.

COLOR COMBO -Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresspo, Pear Pizzazz,  Whisper White

TIP - I did shade the inside of the wreath with my blender pen and Sahara Sand Ink Pad - I didn't want to cut out the inside!

Artisan Wednesday Wow - Christmas Card Idea - Joyful Wreath

I have been on a HUGE Gold Embossing powder kick lately, and totally drawn to all of the Gold and Vanilla I am seeing everywhere. I guess that's what inspired today's card.

 

 

 

 

 

 This was my first time embossing on top of the Natural Compositions Specialty Designer Series Paper and I can tell you that it will not be my last! That and I am loving the Wreath stamp more than I thought I would! I've used it quite a bit.

 

COLOR COMBO -Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Very Vanilla

TIP - I cut apart the letters from the JOY banner to space it out the way I wanted it!

MDS Blog Hop - Calendar Time!

Hi - Welcome back!

Are you enjoying the blog hop so far? I hope that you are finding lots of inspiration, I know I have!

I am so lucky to be following my fabulous friend - with the most amazing smile - the talented, Holly Van Dyne. If you haven't seen her project yet, go check it out or make sure you hop all the way around.

Let me start off by saying that ever since MDS came out, all the Grandparents of the family have received 12x12 custom calendars featuring the boys for Christmas.... spoiler alert - they will be late this year, as in, I haven't even started them yet! I have just really had my plates full lately!!!! BUT, I did decide that since Tanner has been showing an interest in the calendar, I thought that I could add it to our "homeschool" curiculum (I don't really homeschool him, just those casual learning opps) So, I created this blank template and embellishments for him. I want to put this in a 12x12 frame so we can also use the erase markers on it!

Here are a few of the toppers - I wanted them to be pretty simple so he could recognize the names of the months

Then I made a few little embellishments I could add for events and holidays! Figure I will cut or punch these out and we can stick them to the glass.

 

 

 

I know it's simple, but I think we will have fun with it. I am thinking that it could be fun to do one for some teachers like this too!

Artisan Wednesday Wow - Christmas Tags

Hi! Welcome Back!

It's a brand new month, and time for our Artisan Weekly Wednesday Wow Blog Hop!  Maybe you just came from Jane's blog - I just love that girl! If not, make sure you follow the hop all the way around to check out all 10 projects!

 

I was SO SUPER-DUPER excited to receive the Color Me Christmas stamp set in my Artisan Box this month! I LOVE the images, and it's just the right amount of coloring for me!

 

 

 

  I cut out the large tags with the Chalk Talk Framelits from our awesome Coaster Board, then stamped the images and embossed them with black Embossing Powder. I also used the "to" and "from images" from the Stamp A Tag Kit and embossed that as well. I love how wonderfully our Stampin' Write Markers color on the Coaster Board! I jazzed them up a little with bits and pieces of coordinating ribbon.

 

 

 

COLOR COMBO -Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Island Indigo, Old Olive, Summer Starfruit, Basic Black

TIP - I used the Smoky Slate marker just to add a little outline shadow to make the image pop a little more!
