 Definitely Dahlia was one of the first stamp sets I chose from the new catalog, as well as Watercolor Wash. I was SO happy with this year's background stamps and I couldn't wait to combine these two.

Fancy Friday - What inspires you?

 Welcome back to Fancy Friday!

 Do you like seeing things that inspire others? I do. This month we decided to keep it simple and just choose items that inspire us.

 I LOVE the saying with this stamp and it truly does inspire me. Following my heart is something I sometimes forget to do, so when this is coupled with such a CUTE little trailer - it is very inspiring to me.

 

 Stamping really is a way for me to follow my heart. It gives me little snippets of the day to let my heart out on to paper. I would ask if that sounds weird, but if you read my blog chances are you GET IT. It's probably the same for you.... take a few moments to follow your heart today.

TGIF Challenge #13

 Hey, Hey!!! Happy Friday, friends!!!! This challenge is going to be GREAT for some and a real challenge for others! 

(If you want to play along and create a Clean & Simple card yourself.)

 Honestly, I LOVE this look, but I don't usually think it's "simple" so to speak. It takes a certain eye and talent to really pull it off and make it look "finished".

 Here is my take on it:

 

 I ADORE the "You're Sublime" stamp set. I LOVE to color, and even though I still wish that I could get my hands on my good ol' Blendies to color this in with, I still love to watercolor. I stamped these on Shimmer cardstock so that I could get a nice blend in the images.

 Don't be scared to watercolor. This is a great set to start with. Just a little ink on the inside lid of your ink pad and an Aquapainter or Blender Pen and you are good to go. JUST PRACTICE. Try something new. Go for it!

 Even if you don't this is an easy challenge to participate in, so I really hope that you'll give it a try. Make sure to link up over at #TGIFC this week and show us what you got.

 Hey, Hey!!! Happy Friday, friends!!!! Are you ready for another challenge? I was so excited to see so many amazing entries for last week's sketch challenge! Thank you to everyone that played along.

There are so many FAVES for me in the new catalog

, it was hard to choose so I chose a set that I love, but hadn't played with yet...

Hey, Girl

 Isn't she CUTE?!?!? Now, this card is for a VERY special girl. If you've been reading my posts lately, you know I have been working on a series of birthday cards for some very special people. People who I have never met, but am very connected to. We had 2 police officers ambushed and killed in our city last year and they left behind beautiful wives and children. This card is for one of the daughters who will be turning the big 13 this year! I hope she loves it. I put so many extra special touches in it to hopefully show her that she is so worthy of such time, love and attention...

Watercolor, paper piecing, a custom skirt, sequins, Crystal Effects, heat embossing.... I adore this card and I hope that she does as well.

TGIFC Challenge #11

 Hey, Hey!!! Happy Friday, friends!!!! Are you ready for another sketch challenge? I love our sketch challenges as I think they are such a great place to start when creating a card, or any paper project...

 I loved this sketch so much I created TWO cards. Both of them have slight variations, but you can for sure tell that this sketch was the inspiration!

 First up is another special birthday card for an amazing lady. Her husband (also a Police Sgt.) lost his life in the line of duty last year, leaving her to raise their son and 2 daughters. She is an amazingly strong woman, and I was honored to make this card for her.

 The Happy Birthday is embossed in Gold Embossing Powder and I hope she sees the symbolism in the color of the flowers. (I LOVE this color combo by the way)

 The second card is actually for their son. I've only made a few cards for teenage boys, so I hope he likes it.

 I think he'll like it - hubby said I'm good. The wood element, the graphic Designer Paper, the Embossed Alphabet Rotary stamp...it all came together quite nicely.

#TGIFC throwdown

 Hey, Hey!!! Wait a minute - it's not Friday... what's going on here? Well check this out. It's a THROW DOWN challenge. Have you ever seen the Food Network show, Chopped? Well, if you have it's kind of like that..... let me fill you in

In this throw down challenge you get a list of items to base your project on, then you only get to use a few "basics" or a pantry of sorts of supplies. 

 

Not too shabby. Think you can make a project using ONLY those ingredients? Well, here is what I came up with...

I really wasn't sure how this was going to come together, but in the end, I kind of love it. I love the watercolor over the Typeset Designer Series Paper! I have a feeling I am going to be using this idea a LOT!

 I know this is quite a challenge, but really, you should play along. It's kind of fun!

TGIF Challenge #10

 Hey, Hey!!! Happy Friday, friends!!!! I hope you had a great week. I can hardly believe that this is the TENTH challenge!!! I don't know about you, but I love having this constant dose of amazing inspiration. This design team is awesome and I am always worried about keeping up with them!

 This color combo is so pretty, but it felt a little dark to me and I wasn't really in the mood for dark, so I chose to really lighten it up!

 I've been really drawn to "white" cards lately, so I decided to add a pop of these colors to a white base. If you haven't had the chance to use the new Thick Whisper White cardstock, you need to:

 Now, it's become a bit of a joke - I don't like butterflies. I don't, they creep me out. Like really. But this set... I just couldn't resist. There is just so much possibility in it.

We Create Blog Hop - Summertime

 

 Summertime, and the livin' is easy.... fish are jumpin' and the cotton is high....

  My favorite all time Summer Song. Do you have a favorite? 

 I wish this summer were like that. My summer this year is being spent trying not to melt, especially when I have to pick kiddos up at school (year round school). We did get ourselves some passes to the local waterpark, and we went for the first time the other day - not too bad and the boys love it.

 If I had it my way, I would spend much of my time at a beach. It's how I spent my child-hood summers and I miss it terribly. A friend asked me for an Anniversary card for her parents and told me that their favorite place is the beach. I racked my brain for an idea with the stamp sets that I had and there was NOTHING...not a single idea in my head. SO I broke out my re-inkers, my Aqua-painters and got to work...

 I love how water color looks on our Shimmery White cardstock.... I really hope that they like it.

 I also thought it might be fun to sneak a cute little card in to one of my boys' lunch bags during this ridiculously hot summer.....

 So his favorite ice-cream is mint chip. I stamped the "leaves"(?) in Early Espresso on the Mint Macaron cardstock, then blended them in with a Blender Pen to give it the look of the chocolate chips, then I stamped the "ice-cream" image and cut it out. Thank goodness for the Alphabet Rotary stamp - that thing is a serious LIFE SAVER!
