Hey, Hey Y'all!!!!
I am super excited to be joining the Stamp Ink Paper Design Team as a guest designer for the month of June. I hope you'll join me each week to participate in the fun, weekly challenges!
For my first one, I had a GREAT inspiration piece to work with
I grew up in Southern California and now live in Las Vegas, two places that I honestly believe have some of the most AMAZING sunsets EVER!!!
So this was one of those, "let me try this, then maybe I'll do this, and oh, I can try this" kind of cards... there's watercolor and spritzing and direct to paper and well.... even though I believe it's close to impossible to capture the true beauty of a sunset, I hope I came a tiny bit close.
I mushed some inks on a clear block, spritzed them with water, brushed them around a bit with a watercolor brush, spritzed some watercolor paper, then laid it on top of the block. LOVE the way it turned out!!!It really wasn't a hard technique either... Then because maybe I was missing home, I stamped the little sailboat from Swirly Birds (I told you I LOVE this set) in Basic Black. There was something a little off though. One of the things that I love about sunsets is their softness, that little bit of haze. SO I took a piece of Vellum, stamped the sentiment from Layering Love, added some gold Embossing Powder around the edges, and adhered it to the front of my watercolor paper using a LOT of glue from the Fine Tip glue pen. This stuff is AWESOME. I admit I was a little nervous, but LOVE how it turned out!
So........if you aren't familiar with Stamp, Ink, Paper Challenges (or if you are...) check them out this week. I think you'll be glad you did. I mean, who doesn't need more inspiration from time to time!
