Hey there!!!!
Not sure about you, but I wonder where the "lazy days of summer" have gone? This summer is going to quickly for me. Don't get me wrong, I am LOVING not having to get up early and rushing to get kids to school and the bus stop, but I could use some real LAZY days.
This month the team is featuring BUNDLES from the Stampin' Up! catalog. Did you LOVE Cathy's gorgeous project? She rocks. I chose to make it a little hard on myself and use ONLY items from the bundle/suite. Basically limiting myself to the stamp set/paper/punch and only adding different embellishments! YIKES. Especially since I chose a stamp set with no greeting! I don't usually create cards without a greeting on the front, but I HOPE this kind of still works, I mean, it's a sentiment of sorts- LOL!
This card is also VERY special to me. This is the second year in a row that I have made birthday cards for the sweet children in two families in our town that lost their police officer daddies 2 years ago, in a senseless, brutal attack. Each hero left behind an INFANT. This card is going to a little sweetheart whose name is Kat, so this seemed purrrfect. It breaks my heart, and I try to do little things for them throughout the year to help remind them that they are still so very loved!
I wanted to add some extra special touches to the card - I mean, she's a pretty special girl! Here are a few things I did....
- Cut the banner out from a sheet of the A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper stack. I love the fun colors in the banners.
- To get a good, bold color on the "sentiment" I stamped it three times and cut out the hearts to layer on the speech bubble. Or would it be a meow bubble? I think she's saying, "Happy Birthday, Kat"
- To give the kitty some extra softness, I sponged around her edges after I punched her out.
- Kitties need yarn balls!!!I punched out a little circle of cardstock and added some Calypso Coral Thick Baker's Twine.
- Good kitties also accessorize! A tiny little bow of Blushing Bride Twine around her neck adds just the right touch.
- Maybe this kitty did not wipe her paws! I wanted a little strip to "ground" the kitten, but I didn't want another piece of Designer Paper to distract from the banner or the kitty, so I stamped some Blushing Bride cardstock with the CUTE little paw print from the Foxy Friends set.
Today's color combo comes straight from the Designer Paper -

I love all the details on this card and the interesting techniques you used to give each embellishment more dimension. I am sure the sweet recipient of this card will think it is "purrfect".
