MDS Monday 104 - It's My Turn

Hi friends!

  Happy Monday morning! Went to Jill Olsen's stamping event in St. George on Saturday and spent the day stamping with friends!

 I am so excited that it was my week to choose the sketch! I look for inspiration everywhere, but my MAIN source for most of my inspiration is the talented designers that work so hard creating samples for Stampin' Up! - the Concept Artists. They are a talented group of designers that ALWAYS inspire me.

One of the first samples I fell in love with in the Sale A Bration catalog was a scrapbook page on page 5 of the catalog. Of course the sample is done with the traditional products that you can earn for free, but the sketch is so clean and simple! Here is my take on the sketch -

MDS Monday 103 - a Classic Scrapbook Page Sketch

Hi friends!

  Happy Monday morning! I had a BUSY, BUSY weekend!!! Boys had their Blue and Gold dinner for Cub Scouts on Friday, and being as my hubby is our Committee Chair, well, we were quite busy with it. Our theme was a 50's sock hop and it was SO FUN! Then yesterday was a birthday party for my 2 younger boys - minion theme (I'll post photos soon) and yesterday was hubby's baseball game. Phew!  Tonight begins my boys Little League season so....

 ANYHOW, on to this week's Scrapbook Sketch for MDS Monday. I flipped the photos and title in the  sketch upside down because I thought it might fit my photos a little better for the story I wanted to tell. Here is the original sketch:

Do you love new downloads?

 OMG! I do! Being as I am in the Pacific Time Zone, I often stay up until after 11 on Monday nights, just so I can see them! Is that crazy? Maybe a little, but I love it. Do you look forward to Tuesday download days?

 Well, this week was no different. I INSTANTLY fell in love with the Seriously Teen Kit. WOW! Having mostly boys to scrap, I am going to use this A LOT!

 I had to take pictures of my sweet little guy when he came in after a hard afternoon of playing, he was not happy about being dirty! LOL

What do you think? FUN, right? Well, I think this is another MUST HAVE download!!!!

MDS Blog Hop - What I'm working on February

 Hi!!! I hope you know how excited I am to see you! Welcome back for another MDS Blog Hop. This week is one of our - whatever we happen to be working on weeks. I know I am always working on SOMETHING! LOL

 I have a fun tradition I like to do with my boys and that is at least once a year we go out on a date. It gives me some great one on one time with them, and gives them an opportunity to learn how to act like gentlemen. In fact, I'd like to share a little story about this date night with you. We live in Las Vgeas, but don't go to the Strip very often, however it does offer us lots of opportunities when we want. Anyhow, for my first date night with Shane I decided to take him to Serendipity in front of Caeser's Palace for dinner and a great dessert. Through the whole night, I go over his gentleman points, "ok Shane, remember to open my door", "Shane, you should pull out Mom's chair", etc... as we were exiting an elevator with another lady and another man (not together), she motioned for us to go first, and we did. I told him, " Shane, tnight you were with me, so she was being polite to let us go, but you need to remember to always allow ladies to exit the elevator first". The man behind us actually commented that he was shocked, and he didn't think people taught their children those things anymore. It really made me proud, I try really hard to make sure these boys are "raised right".

 Ok, sorry about all the talk, although I hope you enjoyed my little story. Here we are about to head out for our date

The elements on my page are from the new MDS download Hello There Kit! There are some FUN embellishments in this kit. I fell in love with some of the word embellishments and wanted to recreate the look for my page. I used the font LDJ Hearth (although I am sure you could find a similar free font) Then I added a freeform brush layer and colored in the closed in portions of the letters. After I did that, I sent that layer behind the font and I had the look I wanted!

Can't wait to see what the rest of the talented designers come up with this week! Go take a look for yourself!

Artisan Wednesday Wow - Parker's Pattern Page

  

Hi!!!! How are ya? Doing well today I hope. Good to have you back for our 2012 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team Wednesday Wow Blog Hop! What did you think of Jane's project this week? That lady never ceases to amaze me with her talent.

This month we received a LOVELY box of supplies, including the fun Parker's Patterns Designer Series Papers. I've heard mixed thoughts on this paper....what are your thoughts? I like it - although I think it would be easy to "over think" it....speaking of "thinking"....

 I love this photo of my son - even though he looks older than I want him to - but hey, I'm his Mama. I tried to keep the focus on the photo - using simple hexagons of a few of the Parker's Patterns designs. I'd love to know what you think.

MDS Blog Hop - What I'm working on Wednesday, Lightning McQueen and Ninjago

 HI!!! Welcome back! Did you miss us? I hope that we all get used to the new schedule of every 2nd and 4th Wednesday.  I got in a LOT of great MDS time while on the plane from Vegas to Atlanta and back when I went to Orlando last week. One thing I am so grateful I worked on was invitations for my boys' upcoming birthday parties.Here are the bases for their invites, and all of the wording will be added later. I can also use these to make banners and other decorations around the house. These should be two very fun parties!

 First up will be Shane's. He is my Valentine baby - but I can't have a fun, girly chocolate party when he wants Ninjago - it's a Lego Ninja show he watches like crazy. Here is my attempt at recreating the basic look of the characters....

The invite will have the wording on a white Ninja. There are different colors, so this will probably be on a banner or something.

Next is the baby's.... although it's for his THIRD birthday!!! Are you kidding me???? This is still going too quickly!

I LOVE IT!!!!! LOL! It's going to be a fun party!!! I have so many ideas already!

Artisan Design Team January 2013 It’s Just a Little Crush

Do you remember your last “crush”? Was it in high school? Do you have one now? I know lots of my friends (married and single) have “crushes” on an actor (um – like Channing Tatum) or musician. Some have “crushes” on athletes. I actually have a few crushes. I think Ryan Gosling is adorable as well as a few others, but my “crush” of late is definitely Mike Trout! He is an Outfielder for the Angels (oh - I gave away my age - my friend called me on calling them the "California" Angels), he’s CUTE (and very, very young) but he is also a phenom ball player!

Funny thing is, my husband encourages this crush! It makes me more aware of what’s going on in baseball, and I think he likes being able to talk baseball with me. Plus, he knows I won’t ask him to turn off an Angels game! So – with his permission (lol), I want to share with you a page highlighting my little crush!

Want to know something fun about this page? I actually created it on the airplane on my way to Orlando last week. See – another fun thing about MDS, you can do it anywhere, any time! In addition to the More Amore Designer Series Papers and Hearts a Flutter and More Amore stamps, I also used the Woodpress Alphabet Embellishments – I just recolored them to Basic Gray to go with the page.

Why not make a page about a crush that you have or had – Whether it was Davy Jones or Taylor Lautner, it’s a fun way to document who you are. A little bit of your story. So oten we get caught up in documenting the lives of our families we forget about ourselves. I challenge you this week to create your page, upload to www.mydigitalstudio.net and then post a comment here with a link to your project. Even if you don't do a page, comment here and let me know about your crushes. I would love to see it and I am sure that others would too!

Ok, I kind of can't believe I am posting this, but the few family and friends that saw it LOVE IT, so without further ado..... (oh geez)

Are you done laughing? I hope so, I hope I made you smile though.

I used the Polka Dot Parade Designer Paper again (love it - just changed the Marina Mist to Pool Party) I also used the Freehand Phrases Stamp Brush Set, and the Good Life Journal Template stamps again. See the little swirly around all those embarassing "facts" I cropped a little bit of one of the swirlys that was on one of the stamps from Freehand Phrases and used it to create my own funky little frame!
